During the exhibition period in Dunoon we got the opportunity to arrange several events. The events are of them are listed below, but some will also have their own heading. All of these events took place within the gallery space itself. We found it made the gallery and the work more accessible and would welcome more opportunities to develop this model of engagement.

During the 2024 exhibition period at DBH, we organised daily Gallery Drop-in Climate Conversations and hosted discussions within the gallery space itself..

Topics included the availability of locally grown food and food security with Martin Gerish from the organisation Grow Food Dunoon, who spoke about developing a market garden at Kirn Primary School and plans to extend this work to the grounds of the Struan lodge nursing home.

A conversation titled Shaping our World, focusing on fair and equitable employment, was led by Louise Scott from Glasgow Media Coop and Babs NicGriogair from Green City Wholefoods.

We also welcomed the Swedish Mothers rebelion for a discussion about the resistance movement, and Professor Angela Daly led a session exploring the rise of AI.

The final event, What Does Dunoon want and What can Dunoon Do, was entirely community-led and provided a platform for local voices to imagine future actions and collaborations.

We also organised a documentary filmscreening of Bank Job, directed by Daniel Edelstyn and Hillary Powell, which explores the debt system and its societal impacts.

Additionally, we gave two talks to Creative Industries students from the local high school.
